Who would have thought that I will be reviewing food establishments located inside or near the airport? … Well if I loved it (or hated it) and I think it’s worth sharing then why not? Anyway, here we go.. Whenever we travel, one of my […]
In the past we have heard so much about Applebee’s from friends who enjoyed having their meals there and tried one here and there. And after having not so pleasant experiences from a couple of their outlets I was actually reluctant to go into another one.
However we got famished after some window shopping and I was not in the mood to look for a place to eat out of the mall. One of the places that’s still open at the Al Khalidiya Mall was Applebee’s. We ordered some chicken meal for the four of us and using the Entertainer vouchers it would come out really cheap. While waiting for our order, I can’t help but notice that this branch looks well designed. Nice ambiance I should say.
The food served in front of us were far from cheap though. We ordered Crunchy Thai Shrimp Salad which was so refreshing and tasty, Santa Fe Chicken and Fiesta Lime Chicken. Juicy chicken, and sumptuous serving of sidings, which were well prepared and nicely presented. Hubby had ordered Chipotle Lime Crusted Salmon and he liked it a lot. And one new favorite is the chili cheesy fries. And to finish the meal, you can’t go wrong with a Triple Chocolate Meltdown.
For a change we thought hey they must be doing something different here at this branch. Service was superb, got no complaints whatsoever. The staff knows what’s in their menu. And they were able to anticipate whenever we wanted refills of our drinks even before we could ask for it.
All in all it was a pleasant dining experience that left us full and happy with our choice of food.

The Sumo Sushi in Masdar offers delectable Japanese dishes which of course includes Sushi and Bento among their best sellers. Going there is already an adventure since Masdar City is not a mall type location. It’s an eco – friendly place which also houses the […]
We tried the Iftar after reading so much reviews on The Terrace on the Corniche. Actually we got a bit confused with quite a number of restaurants with the word Terrace on it. However it seems this is one of the best, at The St.Regis in Corniche. Upon entering the place, you will instantly feel relaxed and picture perfect as you see the wide staircase of St.Regis. I find The Terrace on the Corniche to be very cozy and with the plush chairs, you can’t help but linger and relax as you eat. The food attendants are very pleasant and courteous. Always smiling whenever you ask them for something and they always clean up the tables when they see you finish with some dishes.
Here are some of the photos I took ; well nowadays good food comes with good photos taken 🙂
Though I am not so fond of all Middle Eastern food, however being Iftar we expected the place to have majority of this dishes. But then I was not disappointed as they had a variety of other International fares that I could enjoy. I love the beef and other meat dishes plus the fruit and salad bars are a plenty. We actually gorged on the gorgeous desserts on display and ended up quite full. This is one place that you surely must go to if you want to enjoy what you are eating, a relaxed comfy atmosphere, classic and clean interiors, and but of course – good selection of food.
Had dinner here last night to celebrate my birthday and me and my family are all praises for Royal Orchid. We ordered crispy honey chicken and siu mai for appetizers, mixed fried rice, beef in oyster sauce, chicken in lemon butter sauce and some huge grilled shrimps. Everything tasted wonderful with the siu mai being such a delight- juicy and very tasty.
What I like best with the food here is unlike some restos claiming to have authentic Chinese tasting food (and yet the dishes all tastes the same), Royal Orchid’s dishes tasted distinctively different from one another. We want to come back but it seems yesterday night was the last night for them at Hilton. In fact we were one of the few lucky last ones to dine. The food server Mr.Joseph is highly commendable as he is very knowledgeable. We asked him about some of the dishes, some were having Chinese and Thai names on the menu and he generously gave suggestions when he noticed that we were having thoughts on what to order. He also gave us some mango pudding to taste.
All in all I’d rate the place as excellent except that I’d prefer the place to increase the lighting a bit more. We’re hoping to see more of this restaurant when it comes back after about a couple of months and that we’re also hoping that they still have jolly Mr.Joseph amongst their line up of pleasant staff.
